Potassium

What is Potassium?

Potassium is a key electrolyte, a mineral that carries an electrical charge in the body's fluids.

Potassium is the main mineral found inside your cells, while sodium is the main one in the fluid around them. Together, they help set the balance of water inside and outside your cells.

What does Potassium do?

Potassium and sodium work closely together in what's called the sodium-potassium pump, a system in every cell that moves sodium out and potassium in. This keeps the right levels on each side of the cell wall, which nerve and muscle cells rely on to send their signals. Potassium contributes to normal muscle function and to the normal functioning of the nervous system.

Whether you're active, on-the-go, or just trying to stay balanced, potassium is found in many everyday foods.
