What is L-Taurine?
L-Taurine, also known as 'Taurine', is an amino acid-like compound. Unlike most amino acids, it isn't used to build proteins. Instead it is found free in our cells, where it is involved in hydration at a cellular level.
What does the research say about L-Taurine?
Taurine is one of the compounds cells use to manage how much water they hold. This matters most during times of physical stress, heat or dehydration, when cells need to keep their balance of fluids.
L-Taurine also plays a part in the balance of salt and water in the body, including the movement of calcium and sodium, particularly in the kidneys.
Whether you're sweating it out at the gym or simply trying to stay hydrated throughout the day, taurine is one of the compounds working behind the scenes to keep the fluids in our cells in balance.
