What is Blueberry Fibre?
Blueberries contain vitamin C, dietary fibre and plant compounds called polyphenols, including the anthocyanins that give them their deep colour.
What does the research say about Blueberry Fibre?
Blueberry fibre has been well studied, and researchers have reviewed how it interacts with several processes in the gut. Blueberry polyphenols have been studied for their effect on specific gut microbes. In one human study, eating wild blueberries increased levels of bifidobacteria in the gut. Bifidobacteria and lactobacilli are two important groups of bacteria in the gut microbiome.
