What is Mung Bean?
A small but nutritious legume, mung beans are a good source of plant-based protein and fibre, which makes them very filling. They provide iron, calcium, B vitamins, copper, magnesium, potassium and zinc. Iron, magnesium, copper and several of the B vitamins contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
Deliciously filling, add mung beans to your salads, stir-fries and spicy curries for a sweet, fresh flavour and a good dose of nutrients.
What does the research say about Mung Bean?
Mung beans contain phytoestrogens, naturally occurring plant compounds with a similar structure to oestrogen. Oestrogen levels fall during the menopause, and phytoestrogens have been studied in women going through the menopause.
